According to the trailer, Shamshera’s graphics and plot are similar to Thugs of Hindostan. Shamshera, a film directed by Ranbir Kapoor, is based on a true tale. According to Ranbir Kapoor, Shamshera is a film set in the 1800s about a dacoit tribe struggling for their rights and freedom from the British. Ranbir Kapoor stated in a 2018 interview on the Shamshera film.

“Shamshera is not a ‘daaku‘ narrative, but a film set in the 1800s about a dacoit tribe battling for their rights and freedom from the British.” There was a tremendous narrative of courage, one that was anchored in our country and happened back then. It’s a break from my previous work; it’s not one of my typical coming-of-age lover boy characters. Shamshera exists in an idealistic domain, that of a true commercial movie.”
