Narcissa Malfoy as a mother was worried that if he will not be able to do it then it could stimulate the anger of Lord Voldemort known as the Dark Lord. Because of this Snape made the promise to Narcissa Malfoy that he will protect Draco under any circumstances.

There is another reason which provokes Snape to kill Dumbledore and that is snape was a double agent for both phoenix and Death Eaters. So he needs to prove his loyalty to Lord Voldemort so he can keep trusting him. Snape knew that if he will kill Dumbledore then it will increase the trust of Voldemort for him and he will prove his loyalty to the Dark Lord. But he didn’t knew that Voldemort will kill him after all of this so he can take the Elder Wand.
